Determining the "top five" gymnasts of all time is tough to do! It's mostly a subjective opinion. If you ask ten people for their thoughts, you'll probably get 10 different answers.


Here are our thoughts on the top five gymnasts:


1. Simone Biles (United States)

Simone Biles has dominated women's gymnastics in recent years. She's been called the greatest gymnast of all time. With her incredible athleticism, Biles has won multiple Olympic and World Championship titles. She's even set plenty of records along the way.


2. Nadia Comaneci (Romania)

Nadia Comaneci became a global sensation at the 1976 Montreal Olympics when she became the first gymnast to score a perfect 10.0. She went on to win a total of 9 medals during her career!


3. Larisa Latynina (Soviet Union)

Larisa Latynina competed in the 1950s and 1960s and is considered one of the most successful gymnasts in history. She won 18 Olympic medals! Nine of those were gold! She even held the most Olympic medals in any sport until 2012.


4. Olga Korbut (Soviet Union)

Olga Korbut captured the world's attention at the 1972 Munich Olympics with her innovative performances. She popularized the Korbut Flip on the uneven bars and won a total of four Olympic gold medals.


5. Vitaly Scherbo (Belarus)

Vitaly Scherbo was a dominant force in men's gymnastics in the 1990s. Representing the Soviet Union and later Belarus, he won a remarkable 23 Olympic and World Championship medals! That includes an astonishing six golds at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.


It's worth noting that there are numerous other exceptional gymnasts who have made significant contributions to the sport. Any one of them could be included in discussions of the top gymnasts of all time.
