To enhance the education, fitness and fun in every child's life through a safe learning environment geared towards raising their self-esteem.Miss Rachel - Preschool Gymnastics Director, Team Director, Owner Miss Rachel has been teaching gymnastics for more than 14 years. She started gymnastics as a young girl and continued to compete through high school. While at Valparaiso High School her gymnastics team won two State Championships and a State-Runner up title. A graduate of Valparaiso University, Miss Rachel majored in Sports Administration and Dance. She is currently a certified IHSAA gymnastics judge. Miss Rachel is very active with USA Gymnastics-the governing body for gymnastics in the USA. In addition to being USAG Safety/Risk Management Certified, Miss Rachel also has completed Kinder Accreditation for Teachers, Movement Education Lesson Plan Development, Trampoline and Tumbling Level 1 certification, PDP I, PDCP II, H.O.T. Training, First Aid and CPR. She was is a guest coach at Lake Owen Gymnastics Camp. Miss Rachel has been named to the 2011 Northwest Indiana's business Top 20 Under 40. Working with children of all levels and ages, many of Miss Rachel's former gymnasts have gone on to compete and do extremely well on their High School Teams. Miss Rachel believes that movement education leads to an enhanced self-esteem as well as contributing to a healthier lifestyle.
Miss Laura J. - School-Age Gymnastics/Tumbling Director, Team Coach, Preschool Gymnastics Teacher, French Teacher Miss Laura has been teaching gymnastics for over 14 years. She was in competitive gymnastics for a short while and continued to develop this interest through recreational gymnastics in middle school and high school. Attending Valparaiso University, Miss Laura received a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She is currently the school age director and instructs both school age and preschool gymnastics classes, as well as teaching our academic preschool. Her training includes First Aid and CPR, USAG Safety Certification, Kinder Accreditation, and attendance at National and Regional gymnastics congresses. Miss Laura strives to help children learn to be successful through positive feedback and progressive goal setting. She has developed a Character Education program for Perpetual Motion "Kids With Character" which is used in all classes. Miss Debbie - Education Director, Leaping and Learning™ Teacher, Spanish Teacher Miss Debbie, mother of five mostly grown children, and graduate of Valparaiso University, has been working with children in various capacities for 40 years. She began substitute teaching while a student at VU, and over the years has taught at Ivy Tech College, subbed for Michigan City Area Schools, and been a long time substitute teacher and tutor (working with special needs students) for Immanuel School in Valparaiso. Being a high school exchange student in Colomibia, honed her Spanish skills, and two more recent month-long trips to Spain have refreshed her enjoyment of the people, lifestyle and language! Miss Debbie has completed Kinder Accreditation for Teachers, Movement Education Lesson Plan Development, Trampoline and Tumbling Level 1 Certification, PDCP II, H.O.T. Training, is USAG Safety/Risk Management Certified, and is a Red Cross CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguarding instructor, as well as having certifications in those areas. Miss Debbie is also a State Certified EMT, Sunday School teacher, and 30+ year Girl Scout volunteer. A firm believer in lifelong learning, she likes to promote an environment where learning happens while we 'play' - mentally and physically. Discovery is wonderfully exciting! Coach Brad - Core Power™ Director, Head Team Coach, Chinese Teacher Coach Brad is our Core Power™ Director. During High School in Illinois, Coach Brad participated in varsity football and gymnastics where he was All-Conference in football and a Regional medalist on Rings. In college Coach Brad played football at Valparaiso University where he played two years at wide out, 3 years as a free safety and all 5 years as the starting punt and kick returner. He was 2nd team All-Conference his junior year and 1st team All-Conference as well as All-American his senior year. In 2003 his team won the PFL Championships where he was the starting safety and starting punt and kick returner. Coach Brad has trained at Don Bebe's House of Speed at Club 47 as well as Get Fast in Darien, IL. He attended both NFL and AFL combines. At the AFL combine he was ranked #15 in the Elite 22, but has been forced out of the sport due to injury. Coach Brad taught Chinese for three years at Bishop Noll Institute in Hammond. He has completed in house training, USAG Safety/Risk Management as well as attended National and Regional Congresses. Look for Mr. Brad at your next class! Mr. Andrew - Boys Gymnastics Teacher, Preschool Gymnastics Teacher, Team Coach, Customer Service Mr. Andrew took gymnastics for 9 years. He competed throughout Indiana, Michigan and Illinois. He is a former Indiana State Champion at multiple levels. Mr. Andrew is very consistent with ongoing teacher education. He has completed in-house training, Gymnastics Educational Workshops, USAG Safety/Risk Management Certification as well as attended National and Regional Congresses. Mr Andrew has been teaching at Perpetual Motion since 2008 and is one of our most requested teachers. Miss Julie - Team Coach, Gymnastics Teacher, Entertainment & Outreach Director Miss Julie has been teaching gymnastics at Perpetual Motion since February 2010. She developed a love for gymnastics at an early age and is very excited to be able to pass that on to the children she teaches. Miss Julie has three children, twin girls and a little boy, all of whom take various classes at Perpetual Motion. She has completed many hours of training both in house, at State and Regional Congress and is USAG Safety Certified. In addition to teaching gymnastics, Miss Julie enjoys doing theatre, singing and dancing. She has been in many plays and musicals both onstage and as a choreographer and has been nominated for her work in the past. Miss Julie is very excited to spend her days helping kids learn that through gymnastics they can gain not only muscle and good movement skills but also the self confidence and motivation that will help them throughout their lives. Frau Domke - German Teacher Frau Domke has a bachelor's degree in mathematics and German education, as well as a Ph.D in mathematics. She spent her junior year of college studying in Marburg, Germany. While in Germany, Frau Domke travelled around Europe and has since visited Britain, Germany, Egypt, and Russia. She also taught for a year in South Africa. Even though Frau Domke is currently a mathematics professor at Purdue University North Central, she feels strongly about children learning a foreign language at a young age. Miss Stephanie - Preschool Gymnastics Teacher, Leaping and Learning™ Teacher Miss Stephanie took gymnastics when she was a toddler and pre-schooler. She attended Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, IN where she recieved a B.S. in Psychology. Miss Stephanie and her husband moved to Valparaiso in 2007. She worked at Gymboree Play and Music where she taught all levels of the core classes as well as art and music classes. Miss Stephanie is USA Gymnastics Safety Certified and is excited to be teaching children and working with child development through movement activities. She lives with her husband and cat, Lynx. Miss Michelle - School-Age Gymnastics Instructor, Team Coach, Preschool Gymnastics Teacher Miss Michelle has been teaching and coaching gymnastics for five years. She started gymnastics in the 1st grade taking classes and then competed for 7 years. She continued her gymnastics in high school, where she competed for Valparaiso High School all four years. Miss Michelle is currently working on her bachelor's degree in Education. She and her husband have one daughter who takes classes at Perpetual Motion. Teaching children and watching them grow and learn from movement education through gymnastics is what Miss Michelle loves. She believes that this education can help promote a healthier lifestyle and enhanced self-esteem for each child. Mr Moore - Leaping and Learning™ Teacher, Paragon Martial Arts™ Director Bio to come... Miss Jenny - Team Coach, Preschool Gymnastics Teacher Miss Jenny is married with two young children, a boy and a girl, who both enjoy classes here at Perpetual Motion. Miss Jenny was a competitive gymnast for 13 years and has been coaching for over 5. She has worked with children in daycare and preschool and has coached preschool gymnastics through level 6 competitive as well as recreational gymnastics. Miss Jenny is USAG Safety Certified and a USAG Professional Member. She enjoys reading and spending time with her family. Her passion for the sport of gymnastics has blossomed into an equal passion for coaching. Miss Bridgette - Team Coach, Preschool Gymnastics Teacher, School-Age Gymnastics Instructor MIss Bridgette has been involved in gymnastics her whole life. She currently still takes tumbling here at Perpetual Motion. She loves working with kids and enjoys helping people. Miss Bridgette is one of three kids and currently attends Valparaiso High School.
